2020.09.16

Hokusai is selected to be the closing film for the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival, which is going to be held from Saturday, October 31 to Monday, November 9. This film about the unique life of one of the world’s most famous Japanese artists, Katsushika Hokusai, will close the film festival in 2020, the year that marks the 260th anniversary for the birth of Hokusai.

【Comment from Director Hajime Hashimoto】
The history of film was nurtured in the darkness of movie theaters. Now this darkness is undergoing rapid change. It is easy to say that this is the flow of time. Darkness is a place where strangers sit together, cry, laugh, get angry and enjoy themselves. We put our hopes for Hokusai in such a place. Please enjoy it…in the dark.
